VISUAL TECHNIQUES · OPEN METHOD

Name the technique, then test it deliberately.

Each task explains its purpose before it starts. Stop if discomfort appears; these tasks are not vision therapy.

Meta-guiding · pointer tracking

This task uses a moving pointer to make gaze position and pacing visible. It does not promise one ideal pace or an automatic increase in reading speed.

Technique

Brief glimpse and attention grid are locked for unknown-age and under-13 profiles. Grid completion time is shown only to profiles aged 18 and over.

TIP

This experimental visual-attention warm-up does not claim to expand visual span or increase reading speed while preserving comprehension. These are controlled-attention warm-ups. We do not claim that they expand visual span or directly increase reading speed with comprehension. This module is not medical treatment or vision therapy; consult an eye-care professional if discomfort persists.

PURPOSE OF THE EXERCISE

Meta-guiding and visual attention

Try pointer tracking, peripheral awareness and visual search as separate, clearly explained tasks.

What might this practice support?

This exercise may support noticing and deliberately practising its target reading behaviour. By itself, it does not demonstrate lasting improvement or transfer to other texts.

How should it be used?

Begin at a comfortable level and progress only while the task remains accurate and understandable. Reduce pace or difficulty when meaning or comfort declines.

What does this exercise not guarantee?

One round cannot guarantee a lasting increase in reading speed, a wider anatomical field of view or the same result for every text. Compare it with comprehension measured in real passages.
