60-SECOND WARM-UP
Read in meaning groups, not word
by word.
Try to see the group in the centre in one glance. Catch the meaning without sounding out every word separately.
Meaning-group level Intermediate
A progressive round starts with short, large groups and moves towards the widest group available to your profile. It does not guarantee a speed gain.
Place your gaze at the centre of the group. Without deliberately moving it away, notice as much of the group as you comfortably can.
Read in meaning groups
Build a natural reading rhythm with meaningful phrases rather than isolated words.
What might this practice support?
This exercise may support noticing and deliberately practising its target reading behaviour. By itself, it does not demonstrate lasting improvement or transfer to other texts.
How should it be used?
Begin at a comfortable level and progress only while the task remains accurate and understandable. Reduce pace or difficulty when meaning or comfort declines.
What does this exercise not guarantee?
One round cannot guarantee a lasting increase in reading speed, a wider anatomical field of view or the same result for every text. Compare it with comprehension measured in real passages.
