How should reading speed and comprehension be evaluated?
The result separates raw words per minute, comprehension accuracy and effective reading speed. Use the values to compare your own readings of similar difficulty under similar conditions.
What is effective reading speed?
Effective reading speed is words per minute multiplied by the comprehension rate. A pace of 300 WPM with 70% comprehension equals 210 effective WPM. It is a simple balance indicator, not a standardised performance test.
Is one result enough to set a target?
No. Topic, difficulty, language familiarity, fatigue and rereading can change the score. A trend across several comparable passages is more informative than one peak result.
